Ely & District CAMRA
This site is dedicated to our local branch of The Campaign for Real Ale and its main aims are to promote real ales and cider, Pubs in our area that serve these (and encourage those that don't to change), support CAMRA, organise and run beer festivals plus social outings. Please take a look at the official branch magazine 'Ely Isle Ale' for further details of branch activities.
Amongst other things to achieve this we hold regular meetings to which all are welcome (see Diary Dates menu). Please give us a try so that you can take part in good open debate and decision making. Any feedback/questions please don't hesitate to use our Contacts Form.
On Tuesday 21 January, MPs will gather to discuss pub company reform in a landmark Parliamentary debate. This gives us just five days to make an impact and show MPs that members of the public – their constituents – care about their local pubs.
The petition calls on the Government to stick to its promise to introduce a Pubs Watchdog to protect thousands of our valued pubs from being placed at risk of closure due to unfair practices in the pub sector.
The Government is dragging its feet on pub company reform so we are taking a stand. CAMRA’s message to the Government is that enough is enough. It’s time for Ministers to end this delay and act now to save our pubs. We are calling for a Pubs Watchdog to protect publicans, supported by a guest beer right and market rent only option.
